Do you suffer from chronic pain but want to learn how to love your body and experience your pain differently?

When we experience pain, we are instructed to medicalize our pain to make it go away. We learn to see our bodies as the enemy and forget the identity outside of the pain. But we can learn to experience and understand pain differently, even coming to see pain as the route back home to who we really are. In this way, the pain becomes the invitation back to our bodily selves - reminding us how to love ourselves more fully, teaching us that we can heal regardless of if the pain goes away or not.

In this event, join Ruthie Lindsey and Hillary McBride in a conversation about pain and a new way of thinking about how we relate to it and ourselves. Ruthie and Hillary will share their stories of journeying through chronic pain and recovery, the lessons they learned along the way, current research findings about healing from pain, and engage attendees in practices to begin to experience ourselves and our pain differently.

  • "Being part of Hillary and Ruthie's Invitation of Pain group last year kept me sane during the height of un-wellness when rest felt impossible and my chronic pain was constant. Highly recommend her work on embodiment and repairing our relationships with our bodies."

  • “I specifically would recommend it to anyone experiencing chronic pain and living life like this on a daily basis. Dr. Hillary and Ruthie bring eye-opening perspectives on how to reframe pain while incorporating their own personal tactics or tool boxes on how to ease some of that discomfort.”

  • “This was a real invitation to be more embodied in my day to day life. It really clicked and helped me in ways that felt so meaningful. “

  • “Pain is hard to talk about and even more difficult to talk about the mental parts of pain and how they can change the way you see yourself. I think this event was a game-changer for me in realizing that everything is connected.”

  • “So glad I decided to take the leap! Hillary and Ruthie were so warm and informative. I left feeling like I got some important moments of warmth + solidarity while also having some really practical tools to use”

  • “Healing is for everyone and it’s not the end of our stories, but rather and invitation to remember how loved and worthy of love we are. I would love for a part two of this. Even if we’re not all ready to accept all of these things and internalize them, they serve as excellent reminders.”

  • “It was so helpful- my counselor and I have been talking for a long time about how much I live in my head and not in my body, and this was a real invitation to be more embodied in my day to day life. It really clicked and helped me in ways that felt so meaningful”
